SUMMARY:Downtown STL Canoeing Microadventure with Big Muddy
DESCRIPTION:Don’t let the name fool you; there’s nothing small about this 45 minute adventure through the heart of Downtown St. Louis! We’ll meet on the riverfront levee and shuttle less than a mile to our put-in on Laclede’s Landing. We’ll push off near the historic Eads Bridge\, the oldest bridge on the Mississippi and begin with a short paddle upstream (just like Lewis & Clark)\, learning about some notable historic landmarks and catching unparalleled views of some of St. Louis’s oldest riverfront buildings. We’ll then turn our canoe downstream\, paddle under the Eads Bridge and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Gateway Arch and downtown’s skyscrapers. The trip will end just south of the Arch\, where we’ll enjoy snacks and refreshments on the historic cobblestone levee! \nRemember\, no paddling experience or special equipment is necessary\, we’ve got you covered! Our expert guides will provide you with everything you need for the adventure and help you board one of our extraordinary voyageur canoes. \nTrip Information:\nWhen does this trip run? – Select Fridays from April – November \nWhen are the Downtown STL Microadventures in 2025?  \n\n\nFriday\, September 5th @ 5pm \n\n\nFriday\, October 3rd @ 5pm \n\n\nFriday\, November 7th @ 5pm \n\n\nWho is this trip best for? – Everyone!! This is a great trip for anyone interested in the Mississippi River\, the Gateway Arch National Park\, historic architecture or the Great River City of St. Louis. Provided you’re at least 10 years old\, all are welcome\, no experience needed! (1 adult per child under 14 years old\, please) \nWhere and when does this trip start and end? – This trip meets up on the riverfront levee\, just south of the Gateway Arch and ends about an hour later at the same spot. Trip times vary depending on the month\, so please check the calendar for full details. \nWhat is included in this trip? – We provide all necessary safety and paddling gear including life jackets\, paddles\, and dry bags. Our experienced river guides will be available to you the entire trip to assist you and answer all of your questions. No need to worry about transportation as our crew will shuttle you to the put-in from our meet-up location. Post-trip snacks and refreshments will be provided on the levee. \nWhat do I need to bring? – Please make sure you bring the following items with you on your trip: \n Required Gear: \n\n\nRiver shoes/sandals with a backstrap\, waterproof boots\, or old sneakers that you don’t mind getting muddy or wet (NO FLIP FLOPS) \n\n\nWeather appropriate clothing (We will have plenty of extra dry bags\, so feel free to bring as many layers as you may need for comfort.) \n\n\nReusable water bottle \n\n\n Suggested Gear: \n\n\nCamera \n\n\nHat \n\n\nSunscreen/bug spray (weather permitting) \n\n\nSwimsuit and towel (weather permitting) \n\n\nCash to tip your awesome guides \n\n\nHow much does this trip cost? – $40 for adults\, $35 for kids (10 – 18yo)
