SUMMARY:Paddleboard Yoga at Simpson Lake
DESCRIPTION:What?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin instructor Sarah Banks for an all levels\, Yoga Nidra meditation class on the water at Simpson Lake. This class takes place on a paddle board. You are welcome to bring your own board or rent one of ours. Register either way to let us know you’re coming. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease arrive by 7:45 in order to hit the water by 8am. \nClass dates:\nJune 7\nJune 21\nJuly 5\nJuly 19\nAugust 2 (Guest Instructor: Cooper Harrison)\nAugust 16\nAugust 30 (Guest Instructor: Cooper Harrison) \n*In the event of inclement weather\, class will be cancelled. We will announce cancellations via email the night before. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy?\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen we are in a stress pattern or cycle\, it can be easy for us to focus all of our energy externally on food\, safety\, shelter\, etc.\, as we are in a sympathetic nervous system mode of fight/flight/freeze which leaves little space to go inwards introspectively. This can lead to a feeling of disconnection from self\, emotions and bodily sensations (hunger\, thirst\, need for sleep\, relief\, etc.) \nTrauma-informed restorative yoga nidra provides a safe space for introspective awareness and reconnection of the mind\, body\, and spirit by focusing on deep relaxation and sensory awareness. This branch of yogic meditation can easily activate the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s “rest and digest” mode. Through stillness and conscious breathing\, it promotes relaxation\, reduces cortisol & stress\, and encourages the body to unwind\, ultimately fostering a sense of calm and well-being. Unlike a yoga flow class\, this class is preformed lying down or seated.

SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra Summer Series
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Nidra\, an ancient practice of rest and renewal to cultivate energy around your heart’s desires. \nIn our often disconnected culture\, we are more encouraged to fill our to-do list\, rather than herald the benefits of doing less. Yoga nidra\, sanskrit for “yogic sleep\,” is a direct antidote for the busy\, restless mind that so many of us experience. Yoga nidra is a state between wakefulness and dreaming and is found through systematic release of tension through the body\, breath techniques and guided meditation. \nJoin us in this practice that will help you release and recharge\, experience rest\, find deeper connection to self and others\, and create more harmony in your daily life. \nThis practice is welcome to all levels and abilities. Since yoga nidra is practiced lying down\, please be sure to eat minimally before coming and wear comfortable clothing. You may bring any extra blankets\, neck pillows\, eye pillows or anything else that will help bring comfort to the body as you rest in savasana. \nIt has been said that one hour of yoga nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of restful sleep. Let’s bring more ease and rest into our lives together in community.\nEach class will begin with some gentle movements and postures to slow the central nervous system\, and to relax the body. Students will be guided through 20 or 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra at the end of class. Instruction will include attention to breath\, scanning the body\, and guided meditation.\nThis class is perfect for beginners and for those who want to slow down their busy summer pace. \nClass dates and times –\nSunday\, June 29th 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM
Sunday\, July 27th 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM
Sunday\, Aug 31st 5:30 PM to 6:45 PM\nBring your favorite pillow or blanket from home if you wish.
