Why?

When we are in a stress pattern or cycle, it can be easy for us to focus all of our energy externally on food, safety, shelter, etc., as we are in a sympathetic nervous system mode of fight/flight/freeze which leaves little space to go inwards introspectively. This can lead to a feeling of disconnection from self, emotions and bodily sensations (hunger, thirst, need for sleep, relief, etc.)

Trauma-informed restorative yoga nidra provides a safe space for introspective awareness and reconnection of the mind, body, and spirit by focusing on deep relaxation and sensory awareness. This branch of yogic meditation can easily activate the parasympathetic nervous system—the body’s “rest and digest” mode. Through stillness and conscious breathing, it promotes relaxation, reduces cortisol & stress, and encourages the body to unwind, ultimately fostering a sense of calm and well-being. Unlike a yoga flow class, this class is preformed lying down or seated.
