Overview of Materra Method

Materra Method is an intimate, boutique gym specializes in pre & post-natal fitness.  They offer classes in-person and on-demand via their app. The in-person workouts are 45 mins each and are a mix of barre & Pilates.  Using a combination of your own body weight and equipment like stability balls, resistance bands, and light weights the workouts will tone & strengthen the body.   No shoes needed! The instructors at Materra Method are all mothers and can modify the workouts to your needs.  With an emphasis on the core & pelvic floor muscles, which are forever changed after giving birth, I find the workouts challenging even 5 years post-partum.  While I didn’t get super sweaty, I absolutely felt the burn!

What Makes Materra Method Unique

I love that Materra Method doesn’t just modify for soon-to-be or new mammas, but creates workouts specifically for them.  They also offer “Baby Friendly Classes” where you can workout with your little one!  I was inspired and awed to workout next someone 39 weeks pregnant – huge props to her just for showing up!

Classes Offered

Virtual, on-demand classes offered via their App range from 5-45 mins, so you can sneak in some movement during baby’s nap. 45 min in-person classes are available in their studio on select days/times with your choice of two class formats – All-levels and Baby Friendly All Levels. From my experience the workouts will vary by day and instructor. They also offer private, one-on-one sessions. 

Membership Options

The new member special gets you 2 in-person classes for $26 or you can sign up for a 5 pack of classes for $120 ($24/class) or 10 pack for $220 ($22/class).   Virtual membership, is free for 7 days, and allows for you to work out at home whenever convenient.

Final Thoughts

I wish I knew about this spot while I was pregnant or my kids were babies!  I would have loved to bring them here for the mommy & me workouts!   Despite not being a new mama, my body is forever changed from having children and the workouts at Materra would benefit me & really all women. I would visit more frequently if I lived closer!
