3 Group Fitness Classes to Know in St. Louis
January 2026 Edition
January has a way of making us pause and reflect on how we want to feel in the year ahead — stronger, more energized, more connected, or simply more consistent. It’s also the most popular month to reset fitness routines, with new goals set and motivation running high. If you caught my October roundup of 3 Group Fitness Classes to Know, you know I’m less interested in quick trends and more focused on workouts that offer consistency, community, and a reason to keep showing up long after the New Year buzz fades. This month, I’m highlighting three regularly scheduled group fitness classes in St. Louis that are absolutely worth checking out as you set your sights on what fitness looks like for you this year.
1. 🥾 Hike & Hybrid — NutriFormance
This is not your average interval training class.
Hike & Hybrid at NutriFormance blends treadmill hiking with strength training for a full-body, high-intensity workout — without the impact of running. While the 60-minute format alternates between treadmill and strength segments, don’t mistake “hike” for easy. During treadmill intervals, expect steep climbs with inclines reaching up to 25% grade.
The strength portions rotate through TRX, calisthenics, resistance machines, and floor work, delivering a powerful HIIT-style workout that’s tough on muscles but kind to joints. You’ll leave feeling strong, breathless, and accomplished.
Every Hike & Hybrid class I’ve taken with NutriFormance trainer Amy Strahan has been different, which keeps the experience fresh and challenging. Class size is capped at just 12 participants, allowing for meaningful coaching and a supportive environment.
NutriFormance is a gym I’ve written about before — and for good reason. This class (and many others taught by Amy) keep me coming back.
Hike & Hybrid Class Schedule:
- Tuesday 6:00 AM — led by Kimberly Tedoni
- Thursday 9:00 AM — led by Amy Strahan

3. 🍑 Twerkercise — Get Sexy Movement
Ready to step outside your comfort zone and into a heart-pounding workout that targets your glutes, thighs, and cardio? Enter: Twerkercise.
Hosted once a week at Get Sexy Movement in Florissant, this 90-minute class is as much about confidence and community as it is about fitness. I’ll be honest — I was intimidated walking in as a white girl with a relatively flat butt — but I was very pleasantly surprised.
From the moment I arrived, it was clear this wasn’t just a workout class. It’s a connected, welcoming community where movement is celebrated and accountability is part of the playbook. Get Sexy Movement has built a deeply connected community rooted in empowerment, reflection, and support. You’re encouraged not only to move your body, but to celebrate what it can do.
Owner Ashley Simmons challenges her members to grow holistically through group classes, one-on-one training, wellness products, and monthly accountability challenges. Her studio motto says it all: “Working out is the new going out.”
On a recent visit, I had the chance to experience “Unleash Her,” a 75-minute one-on-one session with Ashley that perfectly complements Twerkercise. The session focuses on technique, form, and practical tips to make twerking feel more accessible and natural — whether you’re in class, on the dance floor, or simply wanting to feel more confident and uninhibited in your own body. I walked away with tools that will absolutely help me get more out of Twerkercise (and maybe the next time I’m at the club… 😉).
Show up in booty shorts & sneakers and expect to sweat, squat, lunge, shake, and drop it low. Come ready to be vulnerable, talk about your goals, have fun, and work harder than you think you will.
